The Hon. Michael Kirby AC CMG

Respected for his original thinking and willingness to question old approaches, The Hon. Michael Kirby AC CMG retired from the High Court of Australia in 2009 as Australia’s longest serving judge. He was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1962, was called to the Bar in 1967, and entered the judiciary in 1975. He is attending UNE’s Law Graduation to receive an Honorary Doctorate of Letters and is looking forward to meeting and talking with graduates and current students on the day, both in person and online.

1.30pm – Afternoon tea with The Hon. Michael Kirby AC CMG outside LT1

Zoom (hybrid) event starts:

2.00pm – Welcome from Professor Alpana Roy, Head of UNE Law School

2.05pm – Address to graduates and students by The Hon. Michael Kirby AC CMG

2.45pm – Q&A (in-person and online)

3.20pm – Vote of thanks from the LSS and new graduates

3.30pm – Event concludes
