Skeptics in the Pub

Rachael Parsons Director of NERAM

Fearing the Death of Art?

Are you a painter, writer, researcher, designer, composer, performer, creator?  Are you a student or teacher in the visual, literary and performing arts?

Respected Director of Armidale’s New England Regional Art Museum, Rachael Parsons, will take a cool-headed and skeptical look at world-wide predictions on the imminent Death of Art. Rachael’s presentation will highlight the history of invasive technology and the ensuing panic it causes artists about their ownership, authorship, labour, originality, and power.  She will show how, throughout history, artists have repeatedly absorbed, resisted and repurposed new technologies rather than being replaced by them.

Rachael is adamant: Art does not die. In fact, it mutates, adapts and, often, thrives.  Come and hear how!
