Early morning, December 27 2003: over 300 excited Armidalians are getting out of their tents pitched in the Woodford Festival mud. Today is the day that 24 months of rehearsals, performances and planning come to fruition. That evening an 80-voice adult choir, 44-voice children’s choir, 56-piece orchestra with didgeridoo, 24 dancers, 3 jugglers, 3 actors, a narrator, 5 soloists (2 sopranos, a boy soprano, violin and guitar), The Gypsy Hot Club 5-piece band, fire eater, 5 tonne tip truck, 40 microphones, 4 cameras, a gigantic mixer, 3 huge props including a 6m high plague made from 3,000 plastic shopping bags by 30 people over 300 hours will be performing Plague and the Moonflower, an ecological chorale with oratorio by Richard Harvey and libretto by Ralph Steadman to around 2,000 people with the help of 35 crew and 100 extra family and friends.
