NECOM – Heritage Homestead Series
Sold Out
Cost of ticket includes refreshments.
The 1840’s Ohio Homestead outside Walcha will host the final concert in the series, blending music of the High Baroque with readings from Mark Twain’s The Innocents Abroad. Enjoy Twain’s inimitable style as he takes us on a Grand Tour of the cultural capitals of Europe with Sarah Adeney (voice), Leanne Roobol (voice), Robert Jackson (cello) and Sheila Guymer (piano) with narrator Gareth Rickards. Built in the early 1840s by Scottish farmer, Abraham Nivison and his wife Mary, who migrated from Drumfriesshire, Ohio is an excellent example of a Scottish-style stone house that has been sympathetically altered and extended over time. The house has a fascinating history and is now a private home owned by fifth generation descendants of Abraham and Mary.
As the concert venues are not open to the public, this series offers an exclusive opportunity to visit these heritage gardens in full springtime bloom, to have an exclusive look inside some of the New England’s most prestigious homesteads and a glimpse into history. It will not only be a real treat for the senses but concert proceeds will go towards NECOM’s outreach schools program to support music education opportunities for students in remote locations.
