Life & Rhymes of Banjo Paterson

Yes, Banjo Paterson was in our town in 1900 or 1901 and now three-times Australian champion bush poet Gregory North will be presenting Banjo’s remarkable life and your favourite Paterson poems on the same day as Banjo was here 125 years ago.

It is an extended version of a show Greg’s been performing for nine years in Winton, Queensland, the birthplace of Waltzing Matilda. It includes visuals, facts and poetry – a must for any Banjo Paterson fan. As well as being Australia’s most famous poet, Banjo was a newspaper correspondent at the Boer War in South Africa. From September 1900 to April 1901 he travelled Australia and New Zealand presenting lectures on the war – and made appearances through 56 places including our city.
