Flag Raising Ceremony

Each year, the University and Oorala holds a flag raising ceremony to honour NAIDOC. Listen to UNE Cultural Adviser, Uncle Steve Widders, welcome us to the lands of the Anaiwan people and watch the raising of the Aboriginal flag above “Booloominbah”.  Interim Vice-Chancellor and CEO, Professor Simon Evans, will deliver his thoughts on this event alongside UNE online student, Leavina Reid, who is travelling from Coffs Harbour to speak at this even. Active community member and local Elder of the Year, Rose Lovelock, from the Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Keeping Place, will be special guest speaker for this year’s ceremony. Following the ceremony, guests are invited to a warm lunch in “Booloominbah” where local musician, Anthony Green, will perform for the Elders.
