Australia Day Awards and Beach Party

The Australia Day Awards acknowledge unsung heroes in our community who through their contributions make our region a better place. These individuals and organisations make an outstanding contribution in community service, contributing to our community’s advancement and well-being.

Come along for a day of community, culture and fun by the water at the Australia Day Beach Party.

What’s on:

10.30am – Citizenship Ceremony and Australia Day Awards presentation

12.00pm onwards – Beach Party with: • FREE BBQ and ice cream (limited supply); Kids’ games; • Rowing demonstration; • Earth Art by artist Sharon Cutmore; • Guided cultural walk and tree planting.

Bring your family and friends and enjoy one of the most beautiful spots in our region. Whether you are exploring art, watching the rowing, or relaxing by the water, there is something for everyone!

FREE BUS SERVICE from town to the dam and back (for those who need transport)

• 9:30am – leaves Visitor Information Centre (next to Hungry Jacks)
• 9.35am – pickup Monckton Pool
• 9.40am – pickup Girraween Shops bus stop, then on to Dumaresq Dam
• 12noon – return from Dumaresq Dam via stops at Girraween and Monckton Pool
• 12:30pm – leaves Visitor Information Centre
• 12.35pm – pickup Monckton Pool
• 12.40pm – pickup Girraween Shops bus stop, then on to Dumaresq Dam
• 4:00pm – last trip back to Armidale Visitor Information Centre via stops
