Armidale Birdwatchers

7.55am for 8.00am departure from Visitor Information Centre, 82 Marsh Street.
Bring food (morning tea/lunch), water, binoculars, sunscreen and hat, and wear stout shoes, bring a picnic chair as many bush spots do not have facilities. The scheduled visit may be changed or cancelled if conditions on the day are likely to affect the excursion. Newcomers are always welcome, but please notify our leader, Dr Stephen Debus (sdebus@une.edu.au) preferably a day or two prior to the excursion to let him know you are coming.
From Armidale, travel north to Guyra on New England Highway and then follow Tingha Road 55 kilometres north-west to Tingha. Follow New Valley Road (Ruby Street) south for 700 metres before turning right onto Kempton Road. Follow Kempton Road for three kilometres before continuing straight ahead on what becomes Long Gully Road, a further two kilometres will bring you to a carpark adjacent to Long Creek. Drive or walk a further 300 metres south along the road to a pedestrian gate in the fence, from here follow the signs for 750 metres to the site itself. There will be no excursion on 5 April (Easter Sunday).
This is an Aboriginal Sacred Site, therefore, with respect, no photographs of the Stonewoman, please.
