“A Jane Austen” Lunch

This winter, in a warm and cozy room at McCrossin’s Mill, Cathy Armstrong and Michelle Wheatley will present their inaugural Bookish Lunch. The author of choice for this first exquisite event is, of course, Jane Austen.

Cathy loves to make the most of fresh local seasonal produce to create beautiful meals, which are an absolute joy to smell, see and taste. Her vibrant, inventive style of food is inspired by the wonderful chefs she has worked with, great books, travel, and making food for the people she loves. Cathy co-founded and co-owned the multi award-winning bistro, Boca in Ohio, USA. Upon her return to Australia she opened Green’s Cafe in Bondi, which was listed as one of Sydney’s top 10 cafes by The Sydney Morning Herald. We are so very lucky that she recently moved to Armidale.

Susan Hoddinott, English teacher, book club enthusiast and Jane Austen convert (is she?) will entertain us with her own experiences of reading and teaching JA and her own thoughts (surely not dark?) about her. Cathy will also let us know how Jane Austen inspired this beautiful menu.

There are prizes to give away; just lucky prizes so everyone has a chance and no JA knowledge is necessary. A little jar of hand-made sweet goodness, is yours, as a gift. And a lovely little Jane Austen book shop full of beautiful editions, offering a lovely big discount on this occasion only.

This is a BYO event and no corkage will be charged.
