SUMMARY:Requiem for the Living
DESCRIPTION:The Armidale Symphony Orchestra will be joined by the Armidale Choral Society and Fiori Musicali\, together with vocal soloists Samantha Cobcroft\, Jiya Aila\, and Kent McIntosh\, in a concert of glorious and uplifting choral music. The centrepiece of the program is Requiem for the Living by American composer Dan Forrest. This will be a rare presentation of this powerful and profoundly human work outside Australia’s capital cities. Traditionally\, a Requiem is a mass for the dead. However\, Forrest’s Requiem for the Living (2013) offers a different perspective. Across its five movements\, the work forms a narrative not only of remembrance\, but of solace—speaking to the living and their own experiences of grief\, pain\, and hope.
