DESCRIPTION:Slow Evenings Series: Tapas & Craft \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA little indulgent\, a little creative… Join us for an evening of grazing\, sipping\, and making things with your hands. SUMMARY:TAS Rugby Carnival 2026
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter for The Armidale School Rugby Carnival (TASRC). In 2026\, alongside our traditional Under 12s (15-a-side) and Girls Under 14s & 16s (7-a-side)\, we are proudly introducing the Under 10s (12-a-side) to the carnival lineup. \nThis addition is all about promoting junior rugby\, encouraging greater engagement with younger players\, and providing an opportunity for emerging athletes to hone their skills in a fun\, supportive\, and casually competitive environment. It’s the perfect way to foster a love of the game early\, while helping players develop the teamwork\, discipline\, and core rugby skills they’ll take into older age groups. \nWith up to 60 teams converging for an action-packed weekend\, TASRC remains a highlight on the rugby calendar bringing a chance for players of all ages to connect\, compete\, and celebrate the unique camaraderie that rugby brings. \nAn official opening will be held on the afternoon of Friday\, 17 April. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young players to experience the excitement of a regional rugby tour while forming lifelong memories with teammates and supporters.

SUMMARY:RSL Fundraiser: "Under a Bamboo Sky"
DESCRIPTION:**SPECIAL SCREENING** 1 NIGHT ONLY \nA tale of human connection\, hope and resilience in the face of great tragedy\, Under a Bamboo Sky\, uses new technology to bring to life the unbelievable story of Australian soldiers held prisoner by the Japanese in WWII. \nUsing their own words\, their own voices\, Under a Bamboo Sky weaves the recollections (oral testimony) of more than 60 former POWs together with newly colourised archival material and new location footage to deliver a moving\, intimate and revelatory first-hand account of their experience. \nCaptured during the Japanese offensive and imprisoned in Singapore’s Changi Barracks\, the film follows the three-year journey of these soldiers through four countries: subjected to slave labour building the Thai Burma Railway\, shipwrecked at sea\, and sent down coalmines in Japan on the outskirts of Nagasaki. After bearing witness to some of WWII’s most history-defining events\, they tell of returning home to families\, wives and sweethearts after years away\, and of the price they paid for the trauma they endured. \nShining through the horrors of war is the spirit of these men who\, remarkably\, demonstrate an inspiring human capacity to find beauty in their surroundings and hold onto hope in the worst of circumstances. Under a Bamboo Sky is their story. \nProduced by WildBear Entertainment in recognition of the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII\, financed with the assistance of the ACT Government and Screen Canberra\, The Returned & Services League of Australia and the Australian Government Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ Saluting their Service Commemorative Grants Program. Supported by the Australian War Memorial. \nRating : Mature themes and violence
