Explore the Wollomombi area with this in-and-out scenic walk around the rim of Wollomombi Gorge on a well-maintained path. Keep an eye out for eagles and wallabies as we pass the top of Wollomobi and Chandlers falls. Works beloved and new from an age of discovery\, emotion and light. ARCO’s First Light takes in a sweep of classical chamber music\, including Schubert’s joyful String Quartet No.7 in D major D.74\, Mozart’s Largetto from Clarinet Quintet in A major K.581\, and the brilliant new ocean-inspired Wavelength by Nicole Murphy. At the pinnacle is Haydn’s ‘Sunrise’ quartet in a sparkling 18th-century clarinet arrangement by Vincenzo Gambaro\, an Italian clarinettist and entrepreneur who arranged pieces by his friends Beethoven\, Haydn and Mozart to highlight the clarinet’s lush tones. First Light brings five principals from the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra into the intimacy of chamber music\, including co-artistic directors and long-time musical friends Rachael Beesley (violin) and Nicole van Bruggen (clarinet). They are joined by Alison Rayner (violin)\, Stephen King (viola) and Natasha Kraemer (cello) – all nationally and internationally acclaimed experts in historically informed performance.

The scheduled visit may be changed or cancelled if conditions on the day are likely to affect the excursion. For more information and to register to join the group\, phone Shirley on 0458 260 937 or email shrlycook@gmail.com. \nNewcomers are always welcome\, but please notify our leader\, Dr Stephen Debus (sdebus@une.edu.au) preferably a day or two prior to the excursion to let him know you are coming. \nFrom Armidale\, travel north to Guyra on New England Highway and then follow Tingha Road 55 kilometres north-west to Tingha. Follow New Valley Road (Ruby Street) south for 700 metres before turning right onto Kempton Road. Follow Kempton Road for three kilometres before continuing straight ahead on what becomes Long Gully Road\, a further two kilometres will bring you to a carpark adjacent to Long Creek. Drive or walk a further 300 metres south along the road to a pedestrian gate in the fence\, from here follow the signs for 750 metres to the site itself. There will be no excursion on 5 April (Easter Sunday). \nThis is an Aboriginal Sacred Site\, therefore\, with respect\, no photographs of the Stonewoman\, please.
