DESCRIPTION:The Armidale Symphony Orchestra will be joined by the Armidale Choral Society and Fiori Musicali\, together with vocal soloists Samantha Cobcroft\, Jiya Aila\, and Kent McIntosh\, in a concert of glorious and uplifting choral music. The centrepiece of the program is Requiem for the Living by American composer Dan Forrest. This will be a rare presentation of this powerful and profoundly human work outside Australia’s capital cities. Traditionally\, a Requiem is a mass for the dead. However\, Forrest’s Requiem for the Living (2013) offers a different perspective. Across its five movements\, the work forms a narrative not only of remembrance\, but of solace—speaking to the living and their own experiences of grief\, pain\, and hope. DESCRIPTION:New England Wind Ensemble (NEWE) is performing the classic Peter and Wolf story with music. Conducted by Paul Marshall and narrated by Louisa Sindel-Marshall\, this delightful performance is suitable for young children and adults alike. \nComposed by Russian Sergei Prokofiev\, we hear the tale of young Peter who strays from his garden ignoring his Grandfather’s orders\, and meets a variety of animals including the dreaded wolf. Each animal is represented by an instrument in the group. \nThere will be an introduction and demonstration of woodwind\, brass and percussion instruments\, perfect for young children who might be thinking about learning an instrument in the future. The concert will last less than 1 hour\, perfect for first -time concertgoers (suitable for ages 3-100). \nThere are many versions of the story and music online\, in bookshops and at the library. Families might like to spend time listening and reading the story together beforehand to become familiar with the tale\, but this is not a prerequisite. You can also find free colouring pages for Peter and the Wolf online. \nAlso on the programme is A Night at the Circus composed by Paul Marshall. This descriptive short work musically describes Some Serious Clowns\, Wire Walkers\, Illusionists and Under the Big Top. \nPlease be aware that the auditorium is upstairs. There is a chair lift if needed. There will be pram parking downstairs.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a wonderful evening of film\, community\, and good company as we raise vital funds for local cancer patients through Can Assist Armidale. We’re screening the much-loved Australian comedy-drama Ladies in Black – a warm and witty celebration of friendship\, ambition\, and the magic of a Sydney summer – making it the perfect way to spend a winter Saturday night. \nStandard tickets include movie admission and two raffle tickets\, with multiple prizes up for grabs on the night. Upgrade to a Premium ticket and add a delicious individual charcuterie cup to your evening. Bar service will be available\, and doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. \nPlease note – seating is strictly limited to 100 guests\, so we encourage you to book early to avoid missing out. \nThe Playhouse has generously donated its venue for the evening. If you would like to show your appreciation and support for the ongoing upkeep of this wonderful community space\, donations will be gratefully accepted at the door via an electronic tap pad.
